An Afternoon At The Park

It was a lazy day and we wrapped it up with a walk to the park.  Noah wanted to bring his wagon along and made it about 100 yards before he "needed" to ride in the wagon rather than walk.  Even so, he still managed to burn off enough energy to scrape up his knees and one elbow and even managed a gash on his shin.  All this from a few rides on the swings and many trips down the slide. (Granted, it was an incredibly sleep, fast slide.) I'm still in awe of how he was able to hurt himself so many times.  After his last "owie" he decided he needed to wash it off in the stream.  Of course, that's where he spent the rest of the afternoon.

And after some yummy cranberry pork tenderloins and yams, a quick splash in the bath and off to his next adventure.

Loveland Living Planet Aquarium

So today was another great time at the aquarium.  It's new location is wonderful and really showcases all of the different animals.  Even though, with passes, we've been numerous times, Noah still enjoys it just as much as his very first visit.

Of course, the penguins are still his favorite!

Noah even snapped this incredible picture of the eel!

Today was also the opening of the aquarium's birthday party/event hosting area called Tuki's Island.  It was mainly a giant playland - the kid you would find at a local fast food place.

Summer Time Fun

Noah & Nana had great fun taking care of the garden today.  Help helped water and feed everything and even took pleasure in pruning the dead stuff from all the planters.  Of course, the icing on the cake was the water play.  No one can be sure who got the wettest: the garden or Noah!

Stuffed-Animal Surprise

Today was a pretty typical day for The Bear.  He was in a relatively good mood, even though he had restless sleep last night.  He was even interested in a big, healthy dinner before bed.  The most interesting part of the day came at bedtime, though.  He chose a special book that he had not read before.

It's a really fun book that is part of a series he really enjoys.  However, in the book, Llama Llama doesn't want to share is stuffed animal.  A tug-of-war ensues and... well, the toy loses an arm.  When Noah saw the page and what had happened, he shrieked in horror and began crying uncontrollably.  Who knew that he would become so upset.  Thankfully he was settled down when he continued to read and found out that the toy was sewn back together and all was well.  You'd think he would never want to read the book again, but as soon as it ended, he wanted it all over again.  The shock of the "toy incident" had worn off and Noah was able to enjoy the story much better the second time around.  Phew!  It seems that bedtime stories can be a little more emotional than we adults may give credit for.

Getting off the Bottle

Okay, so it's a little late, but Noah is finally giving up the bottle.  Wait, that made it sound like he was a willing participant - which he is NOT.  Although the small daytime tantrums have been tiresome, it is his bedtimes that have really been the height of his suffering.  Even after a decent dinner he is still beside himself.  He can cry for 20-30 minutes at a time and no words, hugs or cuddles can quell his sadness.  Thankfully his middle-of-the-night wakings are short and he's quickly fast asleep.  Tonight was definitely his longest episode, so hopefully his tiredness won't be too difficult tomorrow morning.
